The summer of 2010 marks the 46th straight year that the Meeting Waters YMCA has been providing fun and educational programs for the children of the CT River Valley. Over those years nearly 10,000 children have participated in a MWYMCA summer camp program. Lewis Day Camp is located at the "meeting waters" of the Black and Connecticut Rivers on Route 5 in Springfield, VT. In addition to providing fun, educational programming and caring supervision, we provide bus transportation from Bellows Falls, Brattleboro, Charlestown, Chester, Putney, Saxtons River, Springfield, Walpole and Westminster.
Ages: Lewis Day Camp is for children ages 6 to 13.

Facilities: On our 52 acres of fields, woods and river frontage we have a 25 yard in-ground pool, a covered pavilion that seats 120, rest rooms, offices, changing rooms, four lean-tos, an archery range, beach volleyball court, basketball area, playing fields, a canoe launch, and miles of hiking trails.
Activities: Our staff fosters the development of the whole child by providing a wide-variety of fun, age-appropriate activities that promote social, physical, intellectual and emotional growth, and the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Core camp activities include: YMCA swim lessons, sports, arts & crafts, free swim, cooperative games, hiking, theater & music, archery, nature education, canoeing, and opening and closing ceremonies. Session themes provide the focus for many activities. Older campers are engaged in many session-long projects. Every other Friday all campers will have a chance to delve into a favorite activity in more depth including activities that are not part of the traditional camp curriculum. For example, Lewis Day Camp director Sue Fortier was a nationally-ranked synchronized swimmer as a teen... she would LOVE to teach synchronized swimming as a Friday Fun Day activity.
Hours of Operation: Camp runs from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm , Monday through Friday (not including transportation time).

Camp Staff: For the twelfth consecutive summer, Lewis Day Camp will be directed by Sue Fortier. As always, a majority of staff members from the previous summer will return and will be joined this summer by several talented, passionate new staff members. Our "professional role models" are hired based on their camping, education, recreational and/or child care training and experience. They participate in a comprehensive training program prior to the opening of camp. Training includes applying Developmental Assets research, teambuilding (for both the staff team and for staff to use with their group of campers), positive discipline, risk management, and First Aid and CPR.
Groups and Ratios: Children are organized into small groups by age. Each group of up to 13 children is supervised by a senior staff member and a junior counselor. The overall ratio of campers:staff is 6:1.
Family Night: Parents, grandparents, siblings and friends are invited to Family Night, held from 7-8:30 on July 8, July 22, August 5, and August 19. Family Night allows Lewis Day Campers to share with their families the projects and activities that they have participated in during camp. We have also woven our Healthy Family Home initiative into Family Night by providing experiences for families in getting more physical activity, eating healthier and connecting more as a family.
Tuition: Fees for Lewis Day Camp are $260 per two-week session and $145 per one-week session, plus a one-time $25 registration fee.
Because Lewis Day Camp is a licensed School-Age Child Care program, camp fees are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. A variety of forms of Financial Assistance are available. Please email us for more information about financial assistance.
